Alcohol consumption and digestive cancer mortality in Koreans: the Kangwha Cohort Study

High ingestion of alcohol may raise death toll from digestive tract cancer in men.

This study looked at mortality rates from cancer affecting the digestive tract among alcohol consumers. Researchers monitored the death records and alcohol drinking habits of more than 6000 Korean men and women over a 20-year period.

Researchers discovered that the odds of suffering from deaths arising from digestive tract cancers, such as esophageal and colon cancer, went up with increased frequency of alcohol consumption, especially among men. This study concluded that fondness for alcohol may put a man at high risk of dying from digestive tract cancer.
