Estimating effects of whole grain consumption on type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer and cardiovascular disease: a burden of proof study
Sufficient consumption of whole grains may contribute positively to the prevention of type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer, ischemic heart disease, and stroke in men and women.
This study determined whether adequate intake of whole grains can lower colorectal cancer, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease risk in men and women. Researchers performed a meta-analysis on data compiled from a pool of 27 studies.
Researchers discovered that daily consumption of 100 grams of whole grains significant cut down a participant's odds of developing colorectal cancer, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular ailments, such as stroke and ischemic heart disease (IHD). The results of this study showed that optimal dietary ingestion of whole grains may help thwart the development type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer, ischemic heart disease, and stroke in men and women.
