Meat Subtypes and Colorectal Cancer Risk: A Pooled Analysis of 6 Cohort Studies in Japan

Consistent consumption of a high meat diet rich in beef, pork, and processed meats may increase an individual's susceptibility to colon cancer.

This meta-analysis investigated the relationship between the frequency of consumption of different types of meat, including beef, pork, and processed meats, and the chances of developing colorectal cancer. Researchers sifted through data drawn out from 7 Japanese studies involving 9,224 patients with colorectal cancer.

Researchers noticed a significant elevation in colon cancer risk among men who were frequent consumers of beef and women who were lovers of beef, pork, and processed meats. This study highlights the negative effect of a meaty diet high in beef, pork, and processed meats on colon cancer risk in men and women.
